What is rhythm and flow in visual design?

Feb 28 2024

Rhythm and flow in visual design are most important to evoke a feeling or mood that suits the medium and the persona reading it.

For most publications, we develop a formula to ensure that all elements, such as text and images, are in place to maintain a consistent flow experience.

In my experience, for a good flow of pages, you need the feeling of the ambiance of the publication. Dive into that ambiance and make the publication from that perspective. Something like actors do: be the ‘world’ you want the reader to get into.

Also, Currently I am in the process of an annual report for a listed company and the flow of reading/viewing this report is something the company cannot do itself. You need the empathic competence like an actor.
